42-yeard-old man, Akate Thomas was on Tuesday arraigned before a Makurdi Magistrates’ Court for allegedly raping and impregnating his 12-year-old biological daughter.
According to the Prosecuting officer, Cpl. Omaye Ujata, one Francis Omanga reported the case to the police.
Ujata told the court that the 42-year-old had sexual intercourse with his two daughters, 12 and 10 years old and one of the girls got impregnated as a result of the “constant forceful sexual intercourse.’’
The prosecutor further disclosed that Thomas threatened to kill the girls whenever they tried to expose him.
When the charge was read, the defendant however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
In his ruling, the Magistrate, Mr David Agada, granted the accused bail in the sum of N50, 000 with one surety in like sum, who should be a blood relation.
Agada adjourned the case till Nov. 16 for further hearing.
